Cell phone rates are on the rise

(CNN) - Check your cell phone bill, it could be going up. Phone companies say it's to develop faster service and more features.

Here's what to look out for: Verizon has dropped its "New Every Two" plan for upgrading phones. A T&T is raising rates, starting this weekend and ending some discounts.

And Sprint is jacking up rates for smart phones by $10 a month. Current customers are fine, but new buyers will pay the higher rate at the end of the month.
