A 17th Street man, 30, was charged with felonious assault, disorderly conduct and criminal damaging. Police said the man went to a home on West Long Street because he suspected a resident of stealing $60 from him. When told to leave, he broke a screen door. The man returned a few minutes later with a bottle of Southern Comfort and struck the resident in the head several times, police said. The resident was treated at a local hospital and released. A Lake Street man, 26, was charged with failure to comply with police orders, resisting arrest, having an open container in a motor vehicle, drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana. Police said the man sped away after driving through a stop sign at Buchtel Avenue and South Main Street. He pulled into a driveway on Long Street, exited the car and climbed on a porch. Police said the man refused to cooperate while being handcuffed. Officers reported finding an open container and two bags of marijuana in his car. A Marshallville man, 31, was charged with drug abuse of heroin, possessing drug paraphernalia and having a drug abuse instrument. Police stopped the man's vehicle at Vernon Odom Boulevard and South Hawkins Street and discovered that the vehicle owner had a warrant. When officers approached the car, they noticed that the man was holding a hypodermic needle cap on his lap. The officer said the man had a warrant for his arrest. An Akron man, 54, was charged Sept. 5 with theft, criminal trespassing, misrepresenting his identification and receiving stolen property. He is accused of stealing merchandise from Giant Eagle, 2726 W. Market St., and giving a false name to police. She said she left to use the phone and when she returned, he said, ''You won't be getting dolled up anymore.'' Theft A man reported someone broke into his car Sept. 5 in the Pheasant Run area of Silver Creek Metro Park and stole his wife's purse. When his credit card was declined, the man pushed his shopping cart out of the store without paying for any merchandise. Theft A safe and prescription drugs were reported stolen Sept. 1-3 from a home in the 200 block of Chestnut Street. Portage County An Akron man, 23, of Dietz Avenue, was charged with domestic violence Sept. 4 in the 800 block of Randall Drive. A Silver Meadows Boulevard man, 20, was charged with two counts of domestic violence and child endangering Sept. 1. He is accused of assaulting the mother of his child and her stepfather, who was holding the man's baby. Ravenna A West Cedar Avenue man, 23, was charged with assault and contributing to the delinquency of a child Sept. 4 at Shorts Funeral Home. The man is accused of choking his 16-year-old girlfriend and giving her an alcoholic beverage. A Grant Street man, 26, and woman, 27, were charged with trafficking in drugs Sept. 1 at their home. Police reported finding crack cocaine when they went to the house to serve a warrant. The home is within 1,000 feet of West Main Elementary School. A Kent man, 36, of South Water Street, was charged with domestic violence Sept. 6. He is accused of punching his live-in partner in the face in the 600 block of Page Street. Stark County A James Street man, 45, was charged with domestic violence Aug. 29, accused of grabbing his wife's purse with such force that she fell to the ground. A Sandlewood Drive woman, 51, was charged with domestic violence Aug. 27. A Bernower Avenue Southwest man, 78, was charged with domestic violence Aug. 27. He is accused of pushing his wife, hitting her in the face, spitting in his daughter's face and striking her in the nose. Jackson Township A Canton man, 45, of Cleveland Avenue Northwest, was arrested Sept. 6 on a felony domestic violence warrant at a Woodlawn Avenue Northwest apartment complex. An Akron woman, 25, of Eighth Street Southwest, was charged with domestic violence and disorderly conduct Sept. 5 following an altercation at a Thackeray Avenue Northwest location. A Doral Road Northwest man, 23, was charged with domestic violence and menacing by stalking Sept. 5. He is accused of pointing a .20-gauge shotgun at his brother during a quarrel. A Fulton Drive Northwest resident, 40, was arrested Sept. 4 on a warrant charging her with passing bad checks, falsification and driving under suspension. A Raleigh Street Northwest man, 44, was arrested Sept. 3 on a warrant alleging two counts of felony domestic violence. A Canton woman, 32, of Greenfield Avenue Southwest, was charged with felony theft Sept. 1, accused of taking an inflatable bed and other items worth a total of $870. A Leecrest Street Northwest woman was charged with domestic violence Aug. 31. She is accused of hitting a man in the face and arm and ripping a gold chain off his neck while in the Jackson police parking lot. A Perry Township woman, 22, of Crestfield Street Southwest, was summoned to Massillon Municipal Court on Aug. 30 on a charge of misuse of credit cards. She is accused of using a credit card that belongs to someone else three times. An Island Drive Northwest man, 29, was charged with domestic violence Aug. 29, accused of grabbing a woman's arm and throwing her to the ground. Burglary A Pawnee Street Northwest woman told police Sept. 1 that she discovered a back-door window broken and a $1,500 watch missing from her home. Breaking and entering Someone broke into the Tam O'Shanter clubhouse on Hills and Dales Road Northwest on Aug. 27 and stole a 47-inch TV valued at $588. Thefts A $600 TV was reported stolen from a Crystal Lake Avenue Northwest home on Aug. 28, a day after a laptop computer, value $816, was reported stolen from a table in the home. A subwoofer, amplifier, cash and other items, worth a total of $2,050, were reported stolen Aug. 27 from a Dover man's truck in a parking lot on Independence Circle Northwest. An Old Church Avenue Northwest woman told police Aug. 24 that a gold necklace and bracelet, worth a total of $11,000, were stolen from her home. A Stratham Circle Northwest woman reported Aug. 24 that her $800 laptop computer was stolen from her shopping cart at Kohl's on Dressler Road Northwest. A Green resident said two subwoofers, worth a total of $1,100, were stolen from his car in the Tinseltown parking lot on Mega Street Northwest. Lake Township A woman, 52, of Smith Kramer Avenue Northeast, was charged with domestic violence Sept. 1, accused of biting her husband's hand. North Canton A homeless man, 38, was charged with felony breaking and entering Sept. 2, accused of spending several days in a vacant Pershing Avenue Northeast apartment without permission. A Uniontown man, 20, of Pheasant Valley Avenue Northwest, was charged with assault Aug. 30. He is accused of hitting a boy, 17, in the head at Dogwood Park. A Canton man, 18, of Rowland Avenue Northeast, was arrested on an assault warrant Aug. 27 in the 4800 block of Cleveland Avenue Northwest. Burglary Jewelry valued at $5,800 was reported stolen from a bedroom of a Radford Avenue Northeast home Aug. 23. Police said phone lines and burglar alarm lines were cut and a window was broken. Theft A portable generator valued at $1,300 was reported stolen Aug. 26 from the Tractor Supply Co. on Whipple Avenue Northwest. Plain Township A Cougar Street Northwest man, 44, was arrested Sept. 3 on a warrant charging him with passing bad checks. A Blake Avenue Northwest man, 21, was charged with domestic violence Sept. 1. He is accused of knocking his mother on a bed and grabbing her wrists and arms. An Applegrove Street Northeast man, 40, was charged with domestic violence Aug. 31, accused of choking a woman and slamming a door on her head. A 39th Street Northeast boy, 17, was booked into the Stark County Juvenile Attention Center on Aug. 30. He is accused of pushing his mother and father during a quarrel with his brother. Robbery Sheriff's deputies investigated a robbery Aug. 28 at the Fifth Third Bank branch on Fulton Drive Northwest. Deputies said $8,001 was taken, but nearly all of it was recovered. Details were not available. Wayne County A flat-screen television, 40 PlayStation II games and other items, worth a total of $890, were reported stolen Sept. 3 from a home in the 12300 block of Akron Road, Chippewa Township. Thefts Three televisions and household items, worth a total of $8,830, were reported stolen Sept. 6 from a home in the 1800 block of Eastern Road, Chippewa Township. A wallet with $110 was reported stolen Sept. 8 from a home in the 4100 block of West Britton Road, Congress Township. A set of keys was reported stolen Sept. 2 from a 2001 Ford in the 12800 block of Coal Bank Road, Chippewa Township. A fuel line and a nozzle were damaged Sept. 3 when someone took 122 gallons of diesel fuel valued at $562 from Beaver Excavating, Clinton Road and state Route 21, Chippewa Township. Household items valued at $4,575 were reported stolen Sept. 4 from a home in the 19000 block of Blosser Road, Sugar Creek Township. Vandalism Someone dented a door and removed the door panel of a 2008 Chevrolet on Sept. 7, causing $1,000 in damage, in a parking lot in the 200 block of Wadsworth Road, East Union Township. Wooster A homeless man, 21, was charged with felony domestic violence Sept. 4. He is accused of pushing his wife, 27, to the ground and taking her glasses in the 1100 block of Stibbs Street. A Wooster man, 25, was charged Sept. 2 with taking fragrances valued at $598 from Kohl's, 3792 Burbank Road. A man, 20, was arrested Sept. 2 on charges of trafficking in marijuana, possession of drugs and prohibitions after police reported finding items in his College of Wooster dormitory room in the 1300 block of North Bever Street. A Wooster man, 44, was arrested Aug. 31 on charges of vandalism, menacing, possession of drug paraphernalia and marijuana. He is accused of damaging a vehicle by driving a car through a door at Performance Body Shop, 1106 W. Old Lincoln Way. Burglaries A television was reported stolen Aug. 31 from a home in the 1600 block of Secrest Road. A flat-screen television valued at $750 was reported stolen Aug. 30 from a home in the 1500 block of Lehr Court. A diamond ring and a Wii game, worth a total of $7,300, were reported stolen Aug. 30 from a home in the 2900 block of Melrose Drive. Cash and prescription drugs, worth a total of $400, were reported stolen Sept. 1 from a home in the 2400 block of Montclair Avenue. Robbery Police said a man pointed a gun at a clerk and demanded money Sept. 1 at Days Inn, 789 E. Milltown Road. The robber fled with $74.
