Anytime that an emergency situation arises that may affect the citizens of Rome, New York, a "crawler" is activated which scrolls across the top of each page on this website. The "crawler" will display the emergency information and will be updated with any follow-up information. An email alert, which also displays the emergency information, is sent to anyone who has registered for email alerts. To register for this service, click on the email alerts box located at the bottom of any page on www.romepd.com and enter your email address. Subscribers who wish to have these alerts sent to their cell phone and are Verizon Wireless subscribers should enter their area code, the cell phone number and then enter @vtext.com. Example: (123) 1234567@vtext.com. AT&T subscribers should enter their area code followed by the cell phone number and then enter @txt.att.net. Example: (123)1234567@txt.att.net. Sprint users should enter their area code followed by their cell number and then enter @messaging.sprintpcs.com. Please check with your cell phone provider as there may be a fee charged for text messaging services.
