Three calls were placed to Joshua Haines from Anthony Waller's cell phone in the early morning hours of April 10, 2010, the same day Haines' body was found in a parked car in Hutchinson.

Whoever placed those calls used *67 before dialing Haines' phone number. The code blocked Waller's number from showing up on Caller ID, so when Haines' answered the phone, he couldn't tell who was calling.

Records custodians from both Verizon Wireless and Sprint testified today in the third day of the Reno County trial for Waller, 26, who is charged with first-degree murder, aggravated robbery and aggravated kidnapping in Haines' death.

Prosecutors allege Waller had 35-year-old Vasie Joe Coons, a neighbor in his apartment complex at 1200 N. Severance, call Haines to Coons' apartment for a drug deal the morning of April 10. Haines, however, was beaten and strangled to death.

Waller is accused of planning the attack on the 33-year-old Haines as revenge for the burglary of his apartment.

Phone records indicate the calls from Waller's phone were placed to Haines shortly after midnight April 10. Waller's defense attorney's noted the records do not indicate who made the calls or where the calls were made.

Coons is awaiting trial on charges of first-degree murder and aggravated robbery in Haines' death.

The jury also heard testimony this morning from Cory Latham, a senior special agent who leads the Kansas Bureau of Investigation's Crime Scene Response Team.
